Prepare a bulk scrap lot for the right buyer
A factory scrap sale involves more than finding a rate per kg. The buyer needs to understand what is in the lot, how it can be inspected, how it will be weighed and what is required to remove it.
KN TRADERS reviews metal and industrial scrap enquiries from across India. Share the material details and location first so the team can confirm whether it can assess your lot and discuss collection arrangements.
Build a simple material inventory
| Material | Useful details for assessment |
|---|---|
| Iron and mild steel | Sections, sheets, offcuts or machinery; approximate weight and dimensions |
| Copper and cable | Bare or insulated, attached parts and whether grades are mixed |
| Aluminium | Sections, sheet or cast parts; coatings and attachments |
| Brass and mixed fittings | Known material, plated parts and other attached metals |
| Machinery and assemblies | Whole-item photos, nameplate details if available, contents and removal access |
List each group separately where practical. Label weights as measured or estimated. Keep a record of materials that are excluded from the proposed sale.
Agree on the inspection and price basis
A photo-based quote may need revision after physical inspection. Confirm whether the price is per kg, per metric tonne or for the whole lot. One metric tonne is 1,000 kg.
For a mixed lot, ask whether each grade will be weighed and priced separately or whether a single lot price applies. Use the scrap rates page for references, then compare written quotes on the same scope.
Confirm weighing and deductions
Agree on the weighing location and the evidence each party will receive. For a vehicle load, confirm how gross and tare weights are recorded and how packaging or non-sale material is treated.
Ask for all expected deductions and charges before accepting the quote. A headline rate alone does not describe the net proceeds.
Plan loading and removal
Share access restrictions, item dimensions, loading space and any site working-hour limits. Establish who will arrange lifting equipment, dismantling, labour and transport, and who pays for each part.
Electrical equipment must be safely isolated before handling. Tell the buyer about oil-filled equipment, batteries, chemicals or other potentially hazardous contents. Do not assume that a metal scrap quotation includes acceptance or specialist handling of those items.
Confirm the sale record and payment terms
Agree on the seller and buyer details, material description, accepted weight, applicable price, charges, payment timing and the documents required for your transaction. The quotation should make responsibilities clear before the lot leaves the site.
Do not assume immediate settlement, a recurring pickup contract or any certification unless it is explicitly included in the agreed arrangements.
Request a bulk assessment
Visit our bulk industrial scrap buying page for the enquiry process and information needed to assess your lot.
Send your inventory, photos, approximate quantity, city and loading details through the contact page. You can also submit a scrap enquiry.
For material-specific preparation, read the copper guide, aluminium guide, iron and steel guide and brass guide. Pricing and availability are confirmed for the individual lot.
