How to compare a brass scrap price per kg
Brass scrap is assessed by its material, condition and the contents of the lot. A collection of clean brass parts is different from mixed fittings that include steel, plastic or other attachments.
Check the listed scrap buying rates and confirm the relevant brass quote with KN TRADERS. Prices depend on the lot and buying conditions; the reference is not a fixed nationwide offer.
Describe the brass items in your lot
| Item group | Details to share |
|---|---|
| Plumbing fittings and valves | Attached steel, rubber, plastic and any remaining contents |
| Fabrication offcuts | Known material specification, cleanliness and approximate weight |
| Decorative or plated items | Whether the underlying metal is known, with close-up photos |
| Mixed machinery fittings | Whole assemblies, separable components and estimated quantity |
A yellow or gold-coloured surface does not prove that an item is solid brass. Plated items and mixed assemblies need assessment. If identification is uncertain, label the material as unconfirmed rather than pricing the whole lot as brass.
Brass valves, turnings and plated fittings: keep the descriptions separate
Describe solid offcuts, valves and mixed fittings individually. If the lot contains machining turnings, disclose any oil, moisture or mixed-metal content and ask the team to confirm acceptance and handling. Do not assume that a price for clean solid brass also applies to turnings or complete valve assemblies.
For plated fittings, share any known base-metal specification. Colour alone is not enough to assign a brass grade. A useful quotation records both the agreed material description and how attachments will be treated.
Compare quotes for the same accepted weight
Ask how the buyer will treat non-brass attachments and mixed material. Confirm whether each group will be priced separately or whether a single price applies to the whole lot.
The basic value calculation is accepted net weight multiplied by the agreed rate. Then account for any agreed deductions or charges. Comparing only a headline per-kg rate can hide differences in the weight or work covered by the quote.
Prepare the information a buyer needs
- Separate known brass from other materials where practical.
- Take clear photographs showing the full lot and representative pieces.
- Share an estimated weight and identify any measured quantities.
- Include your city or pincode and explain loading access.
- Confirm the grade, weighing, transport and payment terms before handover.
Do not dismantle equipment solely to improve a quote without considering labour, safe handling and the buyer's requirements. The team can discuss whether an inspection is needed.
Brass scrap in a larger metal sale
Keep copper, aluminium and iron or steel identifiable in the inventory. For a factory clearance or machinery lot, follow the industrial scrap sale checklist.
Worked example: compare net proceeds on the same basis
The figures below are arithmetic examples only, not KN TRADERS buying rates or a transport tariff. Assume both offers accept the same 100 kg of the same material:
| Example offer | Material amount | Agreed loading and transport charges | Amount after those charges |
|---|---|---|---|
| A: 100 kg at ₹100/kg | ₹10,000 | ₹800 | ₹9,200 |
| B: 100 kg at ₹97/kg | ₹9,700 | ₹200 | ₹9,500 |
Offer B leaves ₹300 more in this example despite its lower rate. If accepted weight, grade, taxes or deductions differ, reconcile those before comparing the offers. Confirm actual rates and all applicable terms with the buyer; these figures exclude taxes and other deductions.
For business quantities, request a bulk industrial scrap assessment. Share each material group and its estimated weight separately.
Brass scrap questions
What is today's brass scrap price in Kerala?
Use the listed reference and update time as a starting point, then confirm a quote for your brass grade, weight and location. A rate in Kerala can differ from one elsewhere in India.
Can plated fittings be sold as solid brass?
Do not assume the base metal from the surface colour. Tell the buyer what is known and request an assessment before agreeing on a grade.
Does KN TRADERS consider brass enquiries across India?
Yes. Share the material details and location so the team can confirm acceptance and transport arrangements.
Discuss a brass scrap quote or submit your scrap sale enquiry. Final buying and payment terms are agreed for the individual lot.
